2022 is a special year for BMW M: The most powerful letter in the world is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a unique community. This special anniversary is being observed not just in Germany – the marque is celebrating all over the world  and inviting fans to join in. The motto: Adrenaline, emotions and pure driving pleasure. BMW M Magazine has some impressions from Austria and the Netherlands, and there’s a look ahead to this year’s M Festival in South Africa, where a new model will be presented.

AUSTRIA.

The anniversary party in Austria was held at the end of June 2022 under the motto "50 Years of Glory". For five whole days, the marque celebrated its fascinating automobiles, fans, history and special moments on the Red Bull Ring. The programme included impressive experiences: opportunities to get behind the wheel of an M model, a taxi ride with a DTM legend or lots of classic BMW M automobiles to marvel at.

NETHERLANDS.

The programme of the Historic Grand Prix at Zandvoort in mid-July 2022 included the party to mark the 50th anniversary of BMW M in the Netherlands. Also starring: historic BMW M automobiles and brand new models like the BMW M3 Touring, the BMW M4 CSL and the fully electric BMW i4 M50. With both BMW M Hospitality and a BMW M Museum, the marque celebrated its anniversary in the drivers’ paddock. 25,000 visitors attended the event. And there were 500 tickets for BMW customers in the context of the BMW Privileges loyalty programme – which sold out in just three hours.

SOUTH AFRICA.

One of the biggest birthday parties still lies ahead: the third M Fest in South Africa. With over 20,000 visitors, it’s one of the biggest M Festivals in the world. This time, it’s all about the 50th birthday and will take place on 15th and 16th October 2022 at the Kyalami Grand Prix course. The highlight will be the world premiere of another top model. Visitors can test drive lots of other M automobiles or experience drag races and drift shows close up. Besides the four-wheeled action, there’ll be plenty of live entertainment and big BMW showrooms to enjoy.
