A Legend Turns 30.Top-notch engineering celebrates the anniversary of the BMW M3.

In 30 years of BMW M3 (Fuel consumption in l/100 km (combined): 8.8 to 8.3
CO2 emissions in g/km (combined): 204 to 194), each of the five BMW M3 generations has embodied the very best in technical ability. With the goal of overriding the laws of physics vis-a-vis dynamics and agility. Redefining boundaries. Raising standards for high-performance cars. Goals that have made the BMW M3 what it is today: an icon of automotive engineering and synonym for "high-performance sports car".

1986 – 1991:

Right in the very first season, the BMW M3 dominated the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (German Touring Car Championship), including overall championship victory. And the sales figures of the first-generation BMW M3 with its 200 HP four-cylinder also exceeded all expectations. BMW recognised the potential.

1992 – 1999:

In the second generation which launched in 1992, the raised rear spoiler and its broad nose enhanced the significantly more discrete appearance of the BMW M3 based on the E36. With 286 HP from an inline six-cylinder, it was no less powerful, but its appearance made it more of a wolf in sheep's clothing than a muscleman.

2000 – 2006:

The third-generation BMW M3 was based on the E36 and went even further to conceal its power reserves. And rightly so, as with its high-rev engine it blasted the 300 HP record by 43 HP.

2007 – 2013:

Derived from the V10 of the BMW M5 (E60) from 2007, in the fourth generation a V8 with four-litre cylinder capacity and an impressive 420 HP then admirably performed its duty in a BMW M3. It rapidly achieved cult status with its high-rev character, sharp throttle response and goosebumps-inducing sound in a top quality athletic body.

The BMW M3 Since 2014.

The fifth BMW M3 generation has continued the tradition of high performance sports cars since 2014, and represents the high point to date in dynamics and power. This is thanks in particular to its M TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder with up to 450 HP. Powerdome and expansive air inlets on the outside also unmistakably pay testament to its claim to the top.

The Exclusive Crowning of a Legend.

This special edition – strictly limited to a global production run of 500 – combines the unrivaled performance and explicit exclusivity of the BMW Individual workshop. The exterior in Macao blue metallic is a clear reminder of the first BMW M3, based on the E30.

The BMW kidney grille, the M gill, the model badge on the rear in high-gloss Black, the M sports exhaust system with Black chrome tailpipes and the exclusive "30 Jahre M3" logo in the gills underscore the especially sporty character of this exceptional vehicle.

The interior of the BMW M3 “30 Jahre M3” offers a classy BMW Individual full-leather and merino upholstery in bi-colour black-fjord blue or black-silver stone. This is one of the many indications of the special status of this automobile, all of which highlight the exacting eye for detail and the high aesthetic demands of the BMW Individual workshop.

The "30 Jahre M3" logo in the doorsill finishers, the headrests and the Carbon fibre interior trims, for example. A further special feature is the BMW Individual instrument panel finished in leather with colour-matching contrast seams. Technically, the "30 Jahre M3" special edition surpasses all BMW M3s to date thanks to the Competition Package: Adapted sprin, dampers and anti-roll bars, optimised loop tuning of the Active M Differential and increasing the performance of the M TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder to a breath-taking 450 HP ensure legendary driving dynamism and performance. It hits the 100 km/h mark in just 4.0 seconds and has an impressive top speed of 280 km/h with the optional M Driver's Package. Numbers that we otherwise only see in pure-bred racing cars – and now in the "30 Jahre M3" special edition as well.
