Beauty belongs on the catwalk. The Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este is the dream setting on Lake Como for the world’s most exclusive pageant for outstanding historic vehicles. In 2022, the three-day festival of elegance and timeless beauty on four wheels once again delighted classic car fans with a carefully curated field of participants and fascinating vehicle presentations. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of BMW M GmbH, there was a special exhibition, special drives and a world premiere: the new BMW M4 CSL made its first appearance.

50 YEARS OF MEAN MACHINERY.

BMW M has an impressive history of racing cars and high-performance vehicles. With its own "50 years of mean machinery - BMW M cars and their ancestors" judging class, this was documented and honoured at this year’s Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este.

 

The winner of is also the first model from BMW M, then still BMW Motorsport: a 1972 BMW 3.0 CSL. The Mention of Honour was awarded to a 1978 BMW 320 Group 5.

EXHIBITIONS FOR THE ANNIVERSARY.

50 years of BMW M also marks the occasion when many BMW Group Classic collection vehicles representing this history were brought to Lake Como to be exhibited. Historic BMW racing cars were present as well as BMW M series vehicles and stunning historic eye-catchers from the BMW 7 Series. The Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este 2022 focused on the pinnacle of luxury, elegance and sportiness.

 

Many automobile enthusiasts made their treasured collections accessible to visitors on the grounds of Villa Erba. A separate area was reserved for automotive stars from the history of BMW M.

A special anniversary edition from BMW Motorrad appeared togehther with the BMW M4 CSL: the BMW M RR 50 Years M, based on the radical Supersports bike M 1000 RR.
