#1. THE ENGINE.

#1. THE ENGINE.

With 302 kW/410 hp and a maximum torque of 550 Nm, the BMW M2 Competition’s engine is a veritable powerhouse that enables the driver to accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.2* seconds. The lightweight carbon precision strut, weighing just 1.5 kilograms, stiffens the front end and improves steering response and precision – a typical M characteristic of both the BMW M2 Competition and BMW M2 CS. In terms of engine performance, the CS model is even more powerful. The weight-optimised high-performance M TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder engine in the M2 CS delivers 331 kW/450 hp at 6,250 rpm – an increase of 40 hp compared to the M2 Competition. At the same time, the two high-performance turbochargers of the CS sustain the powerful torque of 550 Nm a little longer: between 2,350 and 5,500 rpm. Under these conditions, the CS completes the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0* seconds, making it 0.2 seconds faster than the Competition. The racetrack-tested cooling system of the BMW M2 CS comes from the BMW M4 with Competition Package and consists of a central and two side radiators and an additional engine oil cooler. This sophisticated system ensures that the optimum operating temperatures are maintained in normal everyday operation, on short city trips and when used on the racetrack. With the M Driver's Package, both the BMW M2 CS and BMW M2 Competition reach a top speed of 280 km/h.

#2. THE DRIVING DYNAMICS.

#2. THE DRIVING DYNAMICS.

THE TRANSMISSION.

Driving pleasure in its purest form: both vehicles are equipped with a manual transmission as standard. The BMW M2 CS is a true pioneer in this regard, being the first CS model fitted with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. It impresses with its compact design and low weight and offers smoother shifting comfort thanks to the use of carbon friction linings. This is further improved by the gearbox’s engagement speed control, which automatically blips the throttle when changing down and lowers the engine revs when changing up. A seven-speed M double-clutch transmission (M DCT) is available as option for both M2 models, which enables both extremely fast gear changes without any interruption in power flow and silky smooth shifting. For maximum propulsion and outstanding driving dynamics, BMW M2 Competition and BMW M2 CS are equipped with the Active M Differential.

THE SUSPENSION.

A lot of development work has gone into the suspension on both models. The difference: for the BMW M2 CS, M GmbH engineers fine-tuned all suspension components for use on the racetrack. In addition, only the M2 CS is equipped with the Adaptive M suspension, which adapts the damper settings to make them ideal for a variety of driving situations, improves driving dynamics and increases ride comfort.

EXTRAORDINARY DRIVING DYNAMICS.

Exclusive to the BMW M2 CS are the 19-inch M light-alloy wheels V-spoke 763 M matt gold. Here again, the engineers have applied the principles of systematic lightweight design. As a result, the front 9J x 19-inch wheels weigh just nine kilograms, while the rear 10J x 19 wheels add less than ten kilograms. This keeps the unsprung masses low and contributes to the extraordinarily high driving dynamics of the M2 CS. The wheels contrast with the red M sports brake system, which is particularly powerful and fade-resistant with its six-piston fixed callipers and enlarged brake discs. An optional M carbon-ceramic brake in matt gold is available for racetrack enthusiasts, while the racetrack-ready Cup tyres with semi-slick tread pattern have been specially matched to the M2 CS. The front 245/35ZR19 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres offer the ultimate in lateral control, directional stability, steering feel and steering precision, while the 265/35 ZR 19 tyres at the rear optimise traction, lateral control and directional stability.
