„THE STIG“ APPROVED.Ben Collins tests the BMW M3 Touring for DriveTribe at the Nürburgring.

Ever since its premiere, the BMW M3 Competition Touring has been generating enthusiasm with its particularly consistently implemented combination of dynamics, agility, and precision, as well as its unrestricted suitability for everyday use and long-distance driving. Now it faces a special test – Ben Collins, who embodied the mysterious racing driver "The Stig" on "Top Gear" for seven years, tests the M3 Touring extensively on the Grand Prix circuit of the Nürburgring in a DriveTribe video. He even subjects the M automobile to the legendary so-called Apple Test.

THE STIG DRIVES THE NEW BMW M3 TOURING AROUND THE NÜRBURGRING GP.

„THE STIG“ IS IMPRESSED.

First, the BMW M3 Touring shines on the Grand Prix circuit with its basic setup. "It feels bloody crisp. Nice handling, very balanced, intuitive," says Collins. For the next lap, the racing driver selects the SPORT setting for the engine, suspension, and M xDrive, as well as the M Dynamic Mode - and can hardly contain his delight. Of course, "The Stig" also has to try out the DSC-off mode with 2WD - and is thrilled. His interim conclusion consists of a single word: "Beautiful. "

"TWO CARS IN ONE".

Alongside its performance, the car’s spaciousness also stands out. "This vehicle is very practical," says Ben Collins. "There is a lot of legroom." And there's even room in the boot for (stuffed) Labrador Wolfgang. "The Stig" takes the black fluffy dog with him to a series of extended drifts on the wider parts of the Nürburgring. The racing driver is particularly impressed by the fact that the M3 Touring is, as he calls it, "two cars in one" i.e., it combines practical virtues with the driving pleasure of an M3 in an inimitable way.

THE APPLE TEST.

Finally, it's time for a classic, the Apple Test known from "Top Gear". The goal: to hit the apple placed on the inside of a bend on the first try while driving at the limit. No problem for the precise BMW M3 Touring and its accomplished driver.

Official data on power consumption and electric range were determined in accordance with the mandatory measurement procedure and comply with Regulation (EU) 715/2007 valid at the time of type approval. In case of a range, figures in the NEDC take into account differences in the selected wheel and tire size; figures in the WLTP take into account any optional equipment. WLTP values are used for assessing taxes and other vehicle-related charges that are (also) based on CO2 emissions, as well as for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies, if applicable. Where applicable, the NEDC values listed were calculated based on the new WLTP measurement procedure and then converted back to the NEDC measurement procedure for comparability reasons. For newly type-tested vehicles since 01.01.2021, the official data no longer exist according to NEDC, but only according to WLTP. For more information on the WLTP and NEDC measurement procedures, see https://www.bmw.com/wltp.
