It’s amazing how you express your fascination for BMW M. Where does your passion for cars come from? When did it start?

dubsesd: My car passion began when I was a young three-year-old boy pointing out the cars and their models on the streets of Poland. Fast forward to 2010 - when I bought my first E90 328 Sport Package. I was hooked on BMW from then on. Numerous X5 models and a Z4M Coupé also found a spot in the garage as the years went on. My newest and most "individual" BMW is now the F80 M3 in Individual colour Atlantis blue metallic.

What are the essentials of a great photo for you?

Composition, colour balance and clarity. Choosing the correct aperture for the location can really benefit the photo.

My favourite angle is from the rear, especially on the F80 M3 with its muscular and sculpted wide rear arches.

You take photos of your car from a variety of angles – many of them exceptional. Do you plan such pictures beforehand or is it more spontaneous?

Photography is a hobby of mine and every photo I take is spontaneous. Sometimes I keep the camera in the back seat waiting for moment that I feel could make a great photo. BMW automobiles all seem to be very photogenic as it is. I think my favourite angle is from the rear, especially on the F80 M3 with its muscular and sculpted wide rear arches. Just stunning! Side views are also great for any type of car, really. They bring out the lines and silhouette which are sometimes easy to miss in person. I enjoy shooting in 35 – 50mm focal range personally.

Do you prefer taking photos indoors, like in a hangar, or outdoors?

I have limited access to hangars but I do enjoy shooting in underground parking areas or bridges with light leaks. Most of my photos are outside, however, and I’m always looking out for new locations that catch my eye.

Which lighting conditions are the best for your car pictures?

The optimum conditions are overcast or low evening light. The sun has a tendency to light up the lines and bulges of the car beautifully, creating a fluid and almost "too glossy" look (laughs). So dusk and dawn are the best times to take a picture. Some of the best natural sunbursts and light-spreads occur during then. I do also enjoy light painting in the pitch dark, which makes for stunning photos when the car is the only subject. By the way – a great way to light up a vehicle is with a cordless LED wand or construction lamp. You can literally bring it anywhere without having to worry about a power source!

It’s a passion between photography and petrolhead that motivates me to keep shooting and enjoying the car with other enthusiasts.

How do you shoot detailed shots the best?

Close-up and detailed shots are best captured with a very low aperture. This creates a focus on exactly what you want people to see in the photo.

What do you consider the most when taking interior photos?

I think it’s important to consider proper lighting for interior shots. Trying to light up most of the interior without making the photo too overexposed or underexposed is always the biggest concern.

Do you use any filters for your pictures and, if yes, which one?

I don’t use filters that often. Many of my photos include colour balance and making the photo as natural as possible while at the same time enhancing key details that you want the draw the eye to. Depending on the quality and capture, the post-production can take anywhere from five minutes to one hour. Some photos require more work than others simply because the original photo didn’t have ideal lighting conditions. Natural lighting in a photo is very crucial for me.

Which car models would you love to photograph and drive someday?

I would love to photograph the upcoming M5 and M8 models. I have seen a lot of teaser photos of both and can’t wait to see them in the flesh!

Have you ever taken your perfect picture and, if yes, which one?

Whenever I feel I have taken the best photo, my determination to take a better one sets in and I challenge myself once again. I’m always looking to create something new and to capture the car in an entirely new way. It’s a passion between photography and petrolhead that motivates me to keep shooting and sharing my enjoyment of the car with other enthusiasts.

Thanks for the interview. We’re looking forward to see more breathtaking fotos on your Instagram account.
