Resi, Santa and a naked Christmas tree.
The highlight of the set was “Resi”, the affectionate nickname given by the BMW M GmbH workshop team to the BMW E30 M3 pickup. Most die-hard fans were already familiar with the white 1986 prototype, but the film dressed it up elaborately. To create a colourful contrast to the wintery, snowy landscape, “Resi” was specially wrapped up in Christmas red. The pickup, which was recently fully restored, was not supposed to drive on salted roads, so the driving scenes for the main film “Christmas Tree Tragedy” were shot on the grounds of the BMW Driving Experience in the Pitzal valley. The Oscar for the best supporting actor goes to the smallest star on the set: the needle-free Christmas tree on the dashboard, as seen in the second film “Santa’s Special Secret.” While the father stands in front of his house wondering what to do with the de-needled tree, the Santa Claus who happens to be driving by already has a miniature version as a mascot on the dashboard of his X5 M. The end of the film marks the beginning of a success story: fans can now take home the little needle-less Christmas tree from BMW M!
