And the same goes for us – since as far back as 1972. Experience BMW Motorsport – from fascinating race cars in many international racing series to the official Safety Car of MotoGP™.

"Once again, our drivers in 2017 are among the best at the DTM. Of course, Marco Wittmann will be the champion that all the others hotly pursue."

Early start with the best intentions.

Supporting promising driving talents has a long tradition at BMW. It dates back to 1977 and celebrates this year its 40th anniversary. From the first BMW Junior Team to the Formula BMW to the new BMW Motorsport Junior Programme, which was launched in 2014: hardly any other manufacturer looks after young talent so closely like BMW. The top priority is to get the best out of the car and out of me as the driver. I can always learn something in racing, it is a never-ending process.
Bruno Spengler, race car driver DTM
Then we were wild dogs on the racetrack, but BMW still put their trust in us and enabled us to gain important racing experience.

YOUNG WILD ONES.

YOUNG WILD ONES.

The BMW Motorsport Junior Programme.

When BMW Motorsport GmbH in 1977 introduced the BMW Junior Team, a purely Junior team, it was a novelty in the racing world. To prepare young drivers for international racing, support also extended to Formula 1 sports. This started the important careers, for example, of DTM Champions Marco Wittmann and Martin Tomczyk, the BMW works driver and Formula 1 driver Timo Glock, as well as the Forumla 1 World Champions Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg.

Launch pad to the podium.

“For me and my colleagues, the BMW Junior Team was the launch pad which decisively put us on the road to the Formula 1”, says Marc Surer, 1977 driver and first generation newcomer. The concept of the BMW Motorsport Junior Programme encompasses numerous aspects on and off the racetrack. So it’s not only all about driving practice in different BMW race cars, but also about fitness and nutrition, handling the media and working with a team.
