Since 2023, the BMW M Hybrid V8 has been competing for overall victories in the GTP category of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IWSC) at prestigious classics such as the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring. In 2024, BMW M Motorsport also returned to the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). There, the race car competes in events such as the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans.
In the 2026 season, the BMW M Hybrid V8 takes to the track with a modified design: a new front splitter and a slightly smaller BMW kidney grille with the unique BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting improve aerodynamics, optimise performance on all tracks and provide better cooling for the drivetrain and brakes. BMW M Motorsport is thus implementing the insights gained by engineers during previous races.
NEW TRACK LIGHTS AND YELLOW ICON LIGHTS.

NEW TRACK LIGHTS AND YELLOW ICON LIGHTS.
The new track lights at the front illuminate the vehicle’s surroundings even more brightly, making it easier for drivers to assess racing situations, especially on poorly lit sections of the track. The yellow accents in the headlights pay homage to the current generation of BMW M Motorsport race cars and are a nod to the high-performance vehicles from BMW M GmbH.
The LMDh race car is powered by a P66/3 eight-cylinder turbo engine with an additional electric drive. The combustion engine is based on the DTM unit used in the BMW M4 DTM in 2017 and 2018 and has been comprehensively adapted to meet the stringent requirements of the LMDh hybrid drive system in two conversion phases. The chassis is built by the Italian racing car specialists at Dallara.
We are confident that the changes will allow us to compete more consistently at the front on all types of tracks, taking another step toward the top.

TRADITION AND MODERNITY.

TRADITION AND MODERNITY.
The "Inception" livery integrates themes of digitality and dimensionality in a bold, high contrast mosaic. From multiple perspectives the iconic M colours appear in the same sequence they occur in the M logo: light blue on the left, dark blue in the middle, and red on the right, but now in three extruded, pixel-like dimensions. This approach sets up an asymmetrical overall layout for the car which also integrates a non-reflective matte black portion ahead of the driver to assist their forward focus. For dark areas of the livery no foil is applicated to allow the authentic carbon fibre construction show through, and save weight at the same time.
The BMW M Hybrid V8 is more than just a race car, it is paving the way for an electric future for BMW M, by emphatically demonstrating how dynamic and emotional electrified M Power can be.

BMW M TEAM WRT.

BMW M TEAM WRT.
A Belgian success story.
The W Racing Team, known as Team WRT, was founded in 2009 and is based in Baudour, Belgium. The team was founded on the initiative of former racing driver Vincent Vosse and entrepreneur Yves Weerts. Today it is run by the managing directors Kathleen Schurmans and Vincent Vosse.
After successful years as an Audi team, Team WRT has been competing as a BMW M works team since the 2023 season. BMW M Team WRT immediately celebrated numerous victories with the BMW M4 GT3 and underlined its status as one of the best racing teams in the world. Since 2024, the team races the BMW M4 GT3 and the BMW M Hybrid V8 in the FIA World Endurance Championship, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Starting in the 2026 season, the Belgian team will also compete in the GTP class of the IMSA series with the BMW M Hybrid V8. A big step for team principa Vincent Vosse: "I have never made it a secret that we are very interested in competing in the IMSA series. This wish is now becoming a reality."
What a privilege for us as a team to be able to enter two BMW M Hybrid V8 and two BMW M4 GT3 EVO cars each for BMW M Motorsport in the FIA WEC! Although we have two separate crews for the two projects, it will still be a big challenge for WRT. But we love challenges!

BMW M MOTORSPORT AND DALLARA.
United by a common goal.
The chassis for the two prototype cars is being built in collaboration with world-renowned and successful manufacturer Dallara. The Italian designers are among the most successful manufacturers of race cars in the world. The contract with Dallara was signed in September 2021, just months after BMW M Motorsport announced that it would be entering the class. The first test car is being built in Italy with close working between BMW M Motorsport engineers and a team of Dallara engineers assembled exclusively for the BMW M LMDh project.

THE BMW M HYBRID V8 IS THE 20th ART CAR.
Space, movement and energy have always been central motifs in Julie Mehretu's work. For the design of the 20th BMW Art Car, she transformed a two-dimensional image into a three-dimensional representation for the first time, with which she succeeded in bringing dynamism into form. The spectacular Art Car was introduced to the public in May 2024. Less than fours weeks later the moving piece of art competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
