Why is the new M4 heavier than the old one?

First, in order to achieve a higher level of performance there are bigger brakes and wheels, lots of chassis stiffening measures, and sufficient cooling for stable racetrack performance. Additionally, the new generation has grown, as has the regular BMW 4 series. Furthermore, there are new emissions and safety standards in place which increase the vehicle's weight. Finally, the standard equipment of the car is higher than the base spec of its predecessor.

Does the competition version come with manual transmission?

The Competition models always come with M Steptronic.

How much does the new M4 with automatic transmission weigh?

The M Steptronic transmission adds 25kg of weight. Sedan models are 5kg heavier than the comparable Coupé versions.

Why have the models with manual transmission less hp than the automatic ones?

The manual gearbox is in combination with the generally high requirements for durability / longevity etc. not designed for the increased performance requirements of the Competition version.

Official data on power consumption and electric range were determined in accordance with the mandatory measurement procedure and comply with Regulation (EU) 715/2007 valid at the time of type approval. In case of a range, figures in the NEDC take into account differences in the selected wheel and tire size; figures in the WLTP take into account any optional equipment. WLTP values are used for assessing taxes and other vehicle-related charges that are (also) based on CO2 emissions, as well as for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies, if applicable. Where applicable, the NEDC values listed were calculated based on the new WLTP measurement procedure and then converted back to the NEDC measurement procedure for comparability reasons. For newly type-tested vehicles since 01.01.2021, the official data no longer exist according to NEDC, but only according to WLTP. For more information on the WLTP and NEDC measurement procedures, see https://www.bmw.com/wltp.
