The first-generation BMW X5 M, the inaugural all-wheel-drive X model to take on the high-performance attributes of BMW M cars in 2009, already stood out with superb driving dynamics. When the BMW X5 M F85 was launched in 2015, it continued this success story with significantly improved driving dynamics, highly emotive M design and enhanced efficiency. The second-generation SAV with intelligent all-wheel drive BMW xDrive embodies typical M high-performance standards and sets new benchmarks in its segment.

5 POWERFUL FACTS:
- Unmatched driving dynamics in its segment
- 4.4-litre V8-cylinder engine with twin turbocharger
- Max. output 423 kW (575 hp)
- From 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds
- Improved efficiency by 20 % over its predecessor

POWERFUL APPEARANCE.
POWERFUL APPEARANCE.
The BMW X5 M F85 shows its sporting ambitions with its striking design language. The proportions of the X5 M immediately signal its sheer power and exclusivity. The exterior, painted fully in body colour, with its large air intakes, the double-bar kidney grille and the side gill elements create a distinctive, M typical appearance. Air intakes, flaps and rear diffuser not only serve the visuals, but also optimise aerodynamics and cooling. This sophisticated concept reduces drag and lift while keeping the engine, drivetrain, and brakes adequately cooled in all conditions — even on the racetrack.
Numerous specific components complement the athletic appearance of the high-performance SAV. They include the standard 20-inch alloy wheels – with forged 21-inch M wheels optional –, the striking four-pipe exhaust system, and a body-coloured diffuser insert derived from motorsport for optimal airflow.
EXCLUSIVE INTERIOR.
EXCLUSIVE INTERIOR.
As with all M automobiles, the interior of the BMW X5 M F85 sets its own accents within the X vehicle family. They include an ergonomically optimised M leather steering wheel with aluminium shift paddles – a new feature back at market launch – as well as the M gear selector, the high-quality leather upholstery, the M instrument cluster and the electric M sports seats. In addition, the interior could be refined with exclusive M options such as M multifunction seats or full Merino leather upholstery. Technical solutions rounded off the package, such as the optional head-up display which expands the standard display with M specific digital readings of speed, gear selected, rev band and shift indication.

FIT-FOR-NORDSCHLEIFE PERFORMANCE.
FIT-FOR-NORDSCHLEIFE PERFORMANCE.
When M GmbH unveiled the E70, the predecessor to the BMW X5 M F85, in 2009, it was considered an ambitious project. To build an SAV as a high-performance model was a bold decision. But equally bold performance and driving dynamics proved the concept. In 2015, the BMW X5 M F85 continued this success story. As with every M, the powerful X model also had to be a ‘fit-for-Nordschleife’ automobile. Thanks to a sophisticated oil pan technology, providing the drive with constant lubrication even during heavy acceleration and high cornering speeds, and an equally track-tested cooling concept that ensures optimum temperature values for water, charge air and oil cooling even in high-performance operation, the F85 easily meets the requirements.
Therefore, the SAV’s impressive performance figures are just as much track-ready.
FROM THE NORDSCHLEIFE TO THE ROAD.
FROM THE NORDSCHLEIFE TO THE ROAD.
Powered by a 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, which delivers 423 kW (575 hp) and 750 Nm of torque, the BMW X5 M F85 clears the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds. Efficient power transfer is achieved through the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system and its 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, which was newly developed for the model. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. With the optional M Driver's Package, 280 km/h can be reached. The powerful eight-cylinder engine delivers its maximum output between 6,000 and 6,500 rpm, while full torque is available across a very wide rev range from 2,200 to 5,000 rpm, enabling effortless overtaking manoeuvres when required.
And for those who don't want all of the V8's power to go to the road, the optimised Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) allows greater wheel slip in M Dynamic Mode for the drivers to perform controlled drifts.

BLACK IS POWERFUL.
BLACK IS POWERFUL.
In August 2017, a special edition model was launched that once again highlighted all the strengths of the high-performance SAV: the BMW X5 M Edition Black Fire combines exciting exterior and interior design with high-quality and exclusive equipment details. The sapphire black metallic paintwork, combined with the M double kidney grille, also framed in black with black bars, is a real eye-catcher. Forged 21-inch M light alloy wheels in black and standard mirror caps in carbon fibre complement the impressive appearance.
The interior of the BMW X5 M Edition Black Fire exudes a motorsport atmosphere. Fully electric M multifunction seats in finely grained two-tone Merino leather in black and Mugello Red add to this feel, as does the red contrast stitching on the high-quality full leather interior and the X5 M Edition Black Fire logo on the interior trim strip in Piano Black.

A BOLD STATEMENT OF AUTOMOTIVE RELEVANCE.
When the BMW X5 M F85 launched in 2015, it continued its predecessor’s legacy by setting new standards: an SAV that outperforms many sports cars on the racetrack while offering the comfort and everyday practicality of a family vehicle. Powerful, with precise handling and a striking appearance, the F85 took the concept of the high-performance SAV to the next level. Looking back, the BMW X5 M F85 is not only a technical statement, but also a clear commitment by M GmbH to continue shaping the sporty luxury SAV segment in the long term.
