With the BMW M2 CS Racing, BMW M Motorsport continues its tradition of close-to-production vehicles. Like its two predecessors, the BMW M235i Racing and the BMW M240i Racing, it paves the way for ambitious teams and drivers to get involved in motorsport. The BMW M2 CS Racing boasts impressive driving figures and offers the performance of a pedigree race car at a competitive price. The BMW M2 CS, a BMW M GmbH special edition, is the perfect base for the new entry-level model. In close collaboration with BMW M GmbH colleagues, BMW Motorsport engineers used many of the insights from the development of the BMW M4 GT4 to set totally new standards in the entry-level class with the BMW M2 CS Racing. Motorsport-specific driving aids, such as ABS and DSC, guarantee that newcomers will be able to handle the car safely. A mechanical limited slip differential with pre-load and separate cooling also comes as standard, as do specially manufactured drive shafts. Like its production counterpart, the roof is also made of carbon.
The main fields of activity in motorsport for the BMW M2 CS Racing are the variety of different one-make cups. The BMW M2 Cup sees BMW M Motorsport launch an one-make cup within the DTM since 2021. In doing so, it offers talented drivers an attractive and affordable platform on which to demonstrate their ability in the DTM environment. Furthermore the one-make cups include the BMW M2 CS Racing Cup NLS, which is held within the framework of the Nürburgring Endurance Series, the BMW M2 CS Racing Cup Benelux in the Netherlands and Belgium, the BMW M2 CS Racing Cup Italy, the BMW M2 CS Racing Winter Cup and with the BMW M2 CS Racing Series, also the first platform in Asia to be held in Japan. Other fields of activity for the car include the Creventic 24h Series, TC America, TC France, and national platforms at grass-roots level. On top of all this, the BMW M2 CS Racing also has its own cup class at the highlight of the endurance season: the Nürburgring 24 hours.
The new BMW M Motorsport car is powered by an S55 inline six-cylinder engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology, which, with a capacity of 2,979 cc, reaches between 280 and 365 hp in the basic version, and 450 hp in the maximum configuration. As in the BMW M4 GT4, the engine is controlled using power sticks, which enable various performance levels to be programmed and called up, depending on the balance of performance specified. The maximum torque of 550 Nm is transferred by a 7-speed dual clutch transmission that was applied with specialised motorsport software.
The BMW M2 CS Racing has an adjustable steering column with removable BMW Motorsport steering wheel.
An AIM MXG 1.2 Motorsport Display with logger function and colour display is available for recording lap times and monitoring the most important functional data.
The race seat, adjustable in line with FIA standards, is kitted out with a six-point safety harness (FIA 8853-2016). The BMW M2 CS Racing with 365 hp comes with a Sabelt Taurus XL (FIA 8855-1999) as standard. An optional extra, as shown in the image, is a Recaro P 1300 GT race seat (FIA 8862-2009). The 450 hp version of the M2 CS Racing comes with the Recaro P 1300 GT as standard.
The BMW M2 CS Racing has a front-axle brake with 6-piston fixed calliper and a rear-axle brake with 4-piston fixed calliper, with a brake disk diameter of 380 mm front and rear. It is also fitted with an additional brake air cooling system.

Customers around the world have been taking delivery of the BMW M2 CS Racing since mid 2020. Like the predecessor models, the BMW M235i Racing and the BMW M240i Racing, in addition to the existing main competitive arenas such as the NLS Nürburgring Endurance Series and TC America, further platforms have been available around the globe since the 2021 season. Alongside the one-make cups in Germany (M2 Cup), the Benelux region (M2 CS Racing Cup Benelux) and Italy (M2 CS Racing Cup Italy), the BMW M2 CS Racing also contest in the TC France. Depending on the regulations, either the 365 hp or 450 hp will be in action.
In the BMW M2 CS road car, the dual charged six-cylinder in-line engine, which is based on the power unit of the BMW M4 Competition, achieves 450 hp (331 kW). The power is unleashed perfectly onto the racetrack and the road via the standard 6-speed manual transmission or the optional 7-speed M dual-clutch gearbox (M DKG) – the adaptive M racing suspension previously reserved for the BMW M4 models – and cup tyres. The standard M racing brakes with painted red brake callipers or the optional M carbon ceramic brakes ensure the car slows down properly. Proof that the engineers at BMW M GmbH have created a real masterpiece comes in the form of a vote by the readers of “Auto Bild Sportscars” in 2020: The BMW M2 CS was voted “Sportscar of the Year” 2020 in the “Small and Compact Car” class in a survey carried out by the journal.

Official data on power consumption and electric range were determined in accordance with the mandatory measurement procedure and comply with Regulation (EU) 715/2007 valid at the time of type approval. In case of a range, figures in the NEDC take into account differences in the selected wheel and tire size; figures in the WLTP take into account any optional equipment. WLTP values are used for assessing taxes and other vehicle-related charges that are (also) based on CO2 emissions, as well as for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies, if applicable. Where applicable, the NEDC values listed were calculated based on the new WLTP measurement procedure and then converted back to the NEDC measurement procedure for comparability reasons. For newly type-tested vehicles since 01.01.2021, the official data no longer exist according to NEDC, but only according to WLTP. For more information on the WLTP and NEDC measurement procedures, see https://www.bmw.com/wltp.
For further information about the official fuel consumption and the specific CO2 emission of new passenger cars can be taken out of the „handbook of fuel consumption, the CO2 emission and power consumption of new passenger cars“, which is available at all selling points and at https://www.dat.de/co2/.
