For 50 years, BMW Art Cars have been part of the international art scene and stand for creative freedom and visionary design. Since 1975, 20 exhibits have been created, from the classic BMW 3.0 CSL to the endurance racing car BMW M Hybrid V8, with works by John Baldessari (creator of the BMW M6 GTLM Art Car) or Andy Warhol and his legendary BMW M1. In the largest exhibition project in the history of this collection, the rolling works of art go on worldwide exhibition at renowned museums and notable art events. The art cars from BMW M and BMW M Motorsport – vehicles that have also proven themselves to be works of art on the racetrack – make up half of the exhibits.

BMW ART CARS OUT AND ABOUT ACROSS FIVE CONTINENTS.
This collection embodies the essence of global cultural engagement with over one hundred initiatives across contemporary art, music and film, as well as design. The BMW Art Cars offer a cross-section of art history over the past five decades with references to minimalism, pop art, magical realism, abstraction, conceptual art and digital art. To mark the 50th anniversary, the BMW Art Car World Tour features an exhibition programme spanning all five continents including numerous accompanying events.

ACCOMPLISHED WORLD TRAVELLERS.
BMW Art Cars have long been coveted exhibits and have been on display time and again in numerous countries around the world. But this global exhibition project is by far the largest in the history of the collection. The BMW Art Car World Tour kicked off with the BMW Group Branch in Vienna with the art event „(R)Evolution of Art“ at the Museum of Applied Arts (20 – 21 March) and an exhibition at the renowned SPARK Art Fair. The exhibits include the Andy Warhol BMW M1 and Jeff Koons' BMW M3 GT2.
But the BMW Museum in Munich will also be honouring the collection with a special exhibition. From 16 June, the BMW M3 Art Cars by Sandro Chia, Michael Nelson Jagamara and Ken Done will be on display there.

On display worldwide: BMW 3.0 CSL (Frank Stella), BMW M Hybrid V8 (Julie Mehretu) and BMW V12 LMR (Jenny Holzer) at Concorso d’Eleganza, Lake Como, 2024.
