The BMW M Driving Experience starts the year 2025 with new Experiences and a new look and feel. This becomes especially evident in the BMW M Driving Experience Signature Series, where creativity and unique designs meet the adrenaline-fuelled driving fun and the ultimate dynamics of BMW M. Neon colours and graphics covering everything from the front bumper to the rear spoiler are not usually what you would expect from the BMW M Driving Experience and stand out from the rest of the fleet.
The new BMW M Signature Series wants to use innovative designs on select cars to build on the emotional level of Experiences such as the Snow & Ice Experience or the Drift Academy. The design pieces of the BMW M Signature Series do not disappear into a temperature-controlled garage. Instead, they are brought to their limits by experienced instructors and the participants of the BMW M Driving Experience.
For the second edition, three artists submitted their designs. The community voted on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn to decide which livery should adorn the new model in the BMW M Signature Series. Andy Werner ultimately prevailed over his competitors Tim Gresham and Jonathan Quintin. The Los Angeles-based designer has transformed the BMW M4 into a spectacular and unique car with features from motorsport and the drift scene.

The BMW M4 Competition Coupé by racing enthusiast Andy Werner is the second car in the BMW M Driving Experience Signature Series. With the livery by the Los Angeles-based designer, the high-performance model has been transformed into a spectacular drift racer. We met up with Andy Werner for a chat about his design.

My goal was to combine the rich motorsport history of BMW M with a modern, aggressive look.
Andy, you designed the second livery for the BMW M Driving Experience Signature Series. What was the basic idea behind it?
My goal was to combine the rich motorsport history of BMW M with a modern, aggressive look. I took the BMW Formula 1 livery from 1999 with its distinctive white lines on a dark blue background as the basis for my design. To create a particularly dynamic and powerful look, as is often seen in the drift scene, I added abstract elements in bright colours.
Why is the BMW M4 the ideal canvas for your design?
The striking lines, aggressive front end and aerodynamic profile of the BMW M4 Coupé make it the perfect vehicle for this livery, in my opinion. The model’s powerful design and large cooling air intakes immediately reveal its motorsport DNA. And with its classic front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, the M4 is a vehicle that is made for drifting anyway.
How would you describe the BMW M4 Coupé in one sentence?
High performance, sporty driving dynamics, great design!
As a designer, you have already transformed many vehicles, often racing cars, into moving canvases – what is it about movement and speed that appeals to you so much?
Seeing your own creation in motion. It’s definitely a special feeling when you get to see your own work on the racetrack or even on TV after it’s finished.
Thank you very much for the interview, Andy.
