BMW x AIRCONSOLE IN-CAR-GAMING.
BMW is bringing video games to its vehicles in collaboration with AirConsole. What is BMW in-car gaming, and how does it work? Here’s how.
Together with the gaming platform AirConsole, BMW has been bringing a unique form of in-car gaming to the cockpits of more and more BMW M vehicles since 2022. The number and variety of games available are constantly increasing. These ‘casual games’ can be played intuitively on board a BMW M using a smartphone and the AirConsole app. And here's how you do it.

Introduced in 2022, the Curved Display combines a fully digital instrument cluster and a touch-sensitive control display into a single display unit. When activated, the control display, with a screen diagonal of 12.3 inches, will show the respective in-car games in high resolution.

For in-car gaming, players only need their smartphone, which acts as a controller, and the BMW Curved Display with Operating System 8.5 or higher. After launching the AirConsole app in the vehicle, the connection between the smartphone and the vehicle can be easily established by scanning a QR code on the Curved Display – and you’re ready to go. With the AirConsole app, up to seven people can play at the same time, including passengers in the back seat. In general, it is possible to play alone or with all vehicle occupants during a stopover, either cooperatively or in competition mode.

Since 2022, BMW and AirConsole have been bringing an ever-growing number of intuitive and innovative gaming experiences to BMW vehicles. The available in-car games include racing, sports, quiz and music quiz games, as well as simulation, strategy, jump-and-run and puzzle games. Among them are classics such as the card game UNO™ and the in-car version of the hit TV show ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’. Other popular titles include ‘Go Kart Go’, ‘Golazo’, ‘Music Guess’ and ‘Overcooked’. And last but not least, the latest addition, ‘PAC-MAN Championship Edition’. The portfolio of available games is continuously being expanded.
AVAILABILITY IN BMW M MODELS.
AirConsole and its attractive in-car games are available for all BMW M models worldwide, provided they are equipped with Operating System 8.5 (with Service Pack 2021) and the optional ‘Connected Package Professional’ (SA 6C3/6C4). AirConsole can also be used in BMW M vehicles with Operating System 9 and BMW Digital Premium. The content of the ‘AirConsole Games’ vehicle app may vary depending on the country of delivery.
