How to: Get ready to race.

Before you go to the starting line: If your BMW M automobile has already got 2,000 km on the clock, make sure that it’s had its run-in service at your BMW partner.

When the service has been done, check your tyres for wear. For track use, track tyres are recommended, which are an option for many M models.

The ideal tyre pressure on the race track is between 2.3 and 2.7 bar for warm tyres.

On vehicles with M Compound or M Carbon ceramic brakes, the brake cooling duct covers on the front wheel arches have to be removed before taking to the race track. For this, turn the steering wheel full lock to the left or right in order to get at the cooling duct cover. Press the clip, then pull the plastic cover out and down.

AFTER RACE TRACK.

When you cross the finish line for the last time, don’t park your BMW M straight away. The vehicle should be driven at reduced speeds and with minimal brake use so as to allow tyres and brakes to cool down gently.

With vehicles with M Compound or M Carbon ceramic brakes, don’t forget to refit the brake cooling duct covers on the front wheel arches. They should always be fitted when driving on public roads, as they protect the brakes against damp and improve the response in the wet. The covers also have an influence on drag and thus also on fuel consumption and emissions.

Official data on power consumption and electric range were determined in accordance with the mandatory measurement procedure and comply with Regulation (EU) 715/2007 valid at the time of type approval. In case of a range, figures in the NEDC take into account differences in the selected wheel and tire size; figures in the WLTP take into account any optional equipment. WLTP values are used for assessing taxes and other vehicle-related charges that are (also) based on CO2 emissions, as well as for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies, if applicable. Where applicable, the NEDC values listed were calculated based on the new WLTP measurement procedure and then converted back to the NEDC measurement procedure for comparability reasons. For newly type-tested vehicles since 01.01.2021, the official data no longer exist according to NEDC, but only according to WLTP.
