Innovative drive.

The fifth generation of the BMW M5 rings in a new era in terms of the engine concept by BMW M GmbH. The 4th generation was still outfitted with an exotic V10 suction engine, but that was 2011: displacement down – performance up. The newly-developed, high-revving V8 engine, thanks to its double charging, produces a maximum output of 560 hp at 6,000 to 7,000 min-1. The fifth generation BMW M5 with 680 Nm at 1,500 min-1 sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds. It’s not only the 10 percent increase in performance or the 30 percent increase in the maximum torque that makes the next generation much more attractive than its predecessor. Thanks to the TwinPower Turbo and efficient dynamics technology with Auto Start-Stop function, the fifth M5 has 30 percent lower fuel consumption.

Positively tested on racing.

Efficiency is the key word: the fifth generation of the BMW M5 also sets new standards in terms of lightweight construction. Developed with racing expertise, weight-optimised and precisely matched to the performance characteristics of the engine – the chassis technology lets the BMW M5 shine. Together with the drivetrain and design, the chassis was extensively tested and refined on the Nordschleife on the Nürburgring in order to produce the best results in longitudinal and transverse acceleration as well as handling and deceleration.
