At the IAA 2011 in Frankfurt, the fifth generation of the BMW M5 celebrated its world premiere – ringing in a new era in the motorisation of M automobiles. The performance characteristics have been re-defined: the fifth BMW M5 has transformed from a sports sedan into a power sedan and just in time for its 30-year anniversary in 2014.
THE BMW M5 OF 2011.
The anniversary M5.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the M5 series, the BMW Individual Manufaktur is launching a production of a 300 limited edition special model BMW M5 “30 Jahre M5.” With 600 hp and a maximum torque of 700 Nm, it is the most powerful series-produced BMW M5 of all time and the most powerful vehicle in the model history of BMW M. The fact that only 3.9 seconds is needed to reach 100 km/h speaks for itself. Equipped with the M Competition package, the special model includes a modified chassis suspension with a more rigid spring /damper design which rides 10 mm lower to the road. In addition, the silky shimmering Frozen Dark Silver metallic lacquer gives the muscular shape of the special model an impressive gloss. The outline of the double kidneys, the gill element including the “30 Jahre M5” emblem in front fender, the clasps of the door handles, and the double tailpipes finished in black chrome create subtle as well as effective accents. The same goes for the 20-inch M light-alloy wheels in bi-colour finish with mixed tyres.
