Breathtaking cars, legendary racetracks, top-class drivers and enthusiastic fans, the IMSA series offers motorsport in its purest form – and, thanks to the passionate fans, a unique atmosphere. It continues a long tradition of sports car racing in the USA and Canada, in which BMW M Motorsport has always played a major role. Spectacular prototypes and GT cars go head-to-head at iconic racetracks, and battle it out for victories and valuable points at classics such as the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring. In 2022, BMW M Motorsport competed with the new BMW M4 GT3 in the new GTD-PRO class. The car was run by BMW M Team RLL. As of the 2023 IMSA season, Bobby Rahal’s team will run two new BMW M Hybrid V8 and will henceforth start in the new GTP class. In the GTD class, the two BMW M teams, Turner Motorsport and Paul Miller Racing, are each successfully fielding a BMW M4 GT3. In the 2022 season, Paul Miller Racing won the title in the IMSA Sprint Cup Championship.

Auch 2021 reiht sich im Rennkalender der IMSA-Serie ein Klassiker an den nächsten: Bei den absoluten Highlights in Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen und Road Atlanta kämpfen zwei MOTUL BMW M8 GTE mit der namhaften Konkurrenz um Siege und Podestplätze.

Seit inzwischen zwölf Jahren kann das BMW Team RLL auf die Unterstützung durch BMW Motorsport zählen. Mit dem aktuellen Fahrzeug, dem MOTUL BMW M8 GTE, gelangen auf Anhieb Erfolge, die in der Saison 2021 mit Weltklasse-Fahrern wiederholt werden sollen.

Der BMW M8 GTE war das erste Rennfahrzeug von BMW Motorsport, das vor seinem Serienpendant im Einsatz ist. Im Januar 2018 absolvierte der GT-Sportwagen bei den 24 Stunden von Daytona sein erstes Rennen, seither misst er sich in der IMSA-Serie erfolgreich mit der internationalen GT-Konkurrenz.
