THE BMW M6 COUPÉ F13.

In 2012, the BMW M6 Coupé blended the unmistakable M feeling with a luxurious presence and a fascinatingly aesthetic body design in the classic proportions of a coupé. Under its bonnet, the now legendary S63 engine delivered a powerful 412 kW (560 hp). The high-revving 4.4-liter engine was the first V8 cylinder from M GmbH with twin turbochargers. Despite its impressive performance figures, it offered a significantly optimized ratio between driving performance and fuel consumption. The coupé also featured rear-wheel drive and an Active M Differential. Combined with luxurious equipment features, its characteristics gave the BMW M6 Coupé F13 a unique position in the premium segment of the luxury class.

HIGH PERORMANCE COUPÉ IN THE LUXURY CLASS.

HIGH PERORMANCE COUPÉ IN THE LUXURY CLASS.

Since the M badge was first pinned to the elegant, elongated tailgate of a 6 Series – the BMW M635 CSi – in 1987, the legendary model has defined that unique blend of luxury and everyday practicality in a top-class coupé with the performance of a genuine super sports car. The BMW M6 E63/E64 continued this legacy in 2005, making a name for itself with an impressive S85 five-litre V10-cylinder engine. In its third generation, the BMW M6 Coupé F13 further expanded this leading position in the segment in terms of technology and aesthetics. The dynamic, elegant lines of the articulate body design were blended with the typical M athleticism to create an authentic visualization of the coupé’s  high-performance characteristics. This impression was boosted by the strikingly contoured roof made of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic.

MOST POWERFUL MODEL IN CLASS.

MOST POWERFUL MODEL IN CLASS.

When it was launched in 2012, the BMW M6 Coupé F13 came equipped with the most powerful engine in its segment. The high-revving 4.4-litre V8 power plant with M TwinPower Turbo technology – consisting of a pair of twin scroll turbochargers feeding a cylinder bank-spanning exhaust manifold, High Precision Direct Injection, and fully variable VALVETRONIC valve control – gave drivers a typical M power delivery with spontaneous response and long-lasting thrust that kicked in at just 1,500 rpm and extended across the entire rev range up to 7,000 rpm. The engine produced a maximum of 412 kW (560 hp) and an impressive torque of 680 Nm. This was 30 percent more than its predecessor. Efficiency also improved by 30 percent without compromising on high performance. The BMW M6 Coupe F13 sprinted from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 12.6 seconds. The top speed was limited to 250 km/h. For those with a desire for more, M GmbH offered the Competition Package with 423 kW (575 hp). The package saved the driver another 0.1 second for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h and 0.2 seconds to 200 km/h. Adding the optional M Driver's Package, a top speed of 305 km/h could be achieved.

These figures translated into high-performance characteristics with outstanding dynamic driving qualities. The power-to-weight ratio of just 3.3 kg/hp contributed to the perfect M driving experience. In addition, the popular rear-wheel drive was combined with the Active M Differential, which distributed the drive torque fully variably between the rear wheels and helped to optimise traction and driving stability during dynamic lane changes and acceleration out of corners.

MODEL UPDATE WITH MULTIPLE OPTIONS.

In 2015, as part of a model update, the BMW M6 F13 received a range of upgrades to refine the unique character of the M6. The newly designed LED headlights, now as a standard, immediately caught the eye. In addition to the specific M kidney grille with double bars and the striking front apron with large air intakes, they reinforced the athletic impression of the vehicle. New exterior paint finishes and added leather colours including a full leather upholstery with contrast stitching offered further customisation options.

The model update also benefitted the Competition Package. In addition to exclusive features such as 20-inch M light-alloy wheels with double spokes 601M in a two-tone design, mixed tyres, and black chrome-plated twin tailpipes, the Competition models’ output was boosted to 441 kW (600 hp). Maximum torque increased to 700 Nm. These figures enabled the BMW M6 Coupé with Competition Package to reach new benchmarks: the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h improved to just 3.9 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h to only 11.8 seconds.

BMW M6 COUPÉ COMPETITION EDITION.

At the IAA Cars 2015, Germany's International Motorshow, M GmbH presented an even more customised version of the high-performance coupé. Special exterior colours, components made from high-tech carbon fibre and high-quality leather with matching contrast stitching characterise the sharpest version of the M6 Coupé F13. Two exterior paint finishes were available for the special edition model: brilliant Alpine White and striking Austin Yellow metallic. In Alpine White, the BMW M6 Coupé Competition Edition F13 features striking decorative strips in BMW M colours, as seen on the BMW M6 GT3 racing version. With the latest version of the Competition Package, the special edition delivered 441 kW (600 hp) at 700 Nm of torque and reached a top speed of 305 km/h with the optional M Driver's Package.

ROAD TO RACETRACK: THE BMW M6 GT3.

2015 also saw the motorsport version of the BMW M6 Coupé, the BMW M6 GT3. The BMW M6 Coupé series model provided the perfect basis for developing the new GT sports car for customer racing. The engine could be adopted virtually unchanged from the series counterpart. Targeted measures reduced the weight by roughly 600 kilograms compared to the series model and, in combination with aerodynamic adjustments, resulted in an ideal vehicle for motorsport. The BMW M6 went on to make motorsport history in the GT3 class and, with slight modifications, in the GTLM class. Victories in the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring, the IWSC and, last but not least, the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring cemented the fame of the BMW M6 GT3 F13. The elegant race car received the ultimate accolade when renowned artists John Baldessari and Cao Fei each designed it as a BMW M Art Car.
