"DUDE. THAT'S CRAZY!"

2 min reading time

Pole position for Matthias Malmedie: the professional racing driver is not known for his patience – so the GRIP presenter was all the more delighted to get up close and personal with the new BMW X6 M before it has even been launched. However, given that BMW’s latest high-performance SAV has yet to be officially unveiled, it is not only well camouflaged; the interior also has the appearance of a prototype, with many elements covered in felt mats. This prevents full-throttle enthusiast Malmedie seeing too much of the car before everyone else – but not from enjoying its monstrous acceleration and track-defying handling.

AS EXCITING AS EVER.

While Malmedie shows us a lot of the new BMW X6 M, he doesn’t get to reveal everything: parts of his commentary have been censored with a bleep, because some of the information he reveals in the video is still top secret. This is set to change on 3 October 2019, when the GRIP presenter will be able to put the pedal to the metal in a brand-new film about the X6 M.

MALMEDIE ON A SECRET MISSION. THE BMW X6 M.

MALMEDIE ON A SECRET MISSION. THE BMW X6 M.
I'm as happy as a little kid: I'm being allowed to drive a car that hasn't even been launched yet, one that's still top secret.

WHO IS WHO.

TV-Presenter Matthias Malmedie.

WHO IS WHO.

Matthias Malmedie is the go-to authority on German television for automobile enthusiasts. You could even say that in Germany, ‘M’ stands for motorsport, for BMW M...and for Malmedie. The presenter of the GRIP – The Motor Magazine has a proven weakness for particularly powerful cars and thus a special affinity to BMW M. In short: if it revs and roars on German television or the internet, Malmedie is usually not far away. As the holder of a racing driver’s licence, he always keeps his sports cars firmly under control, without taking himself too seriously. Malmedie presents his show with an appealing mix of expert knowledge, humour and pure foot-to-the-floor fun. It’s clearly a winning combination: around two million fans follow the performance-driven auto-tester on TV and social media, waiting with anticipation for his latest video posts on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Presenter, adrenaline junkie, car tester, public celebrity: Matthias Malmedie does it all.

The X6 M delivers. Incredibly so.
