FAQ.

  • In BMW M Mixed Reality, the real car is integrated into the virtual world – without losing the connection between driver and car. Three elements ensure a smooth and immersive driving experience.

First, an extremely precise GPS signal is required. Using multiple sensors, the mixed-reality vehicle is accurately tracked on the circuit in real time.

Second, the vehicle’s agility must be captured in full. Roll and pitch movements during acceleration and steering, along with accelerator and brake inputs and wheel rotations, are tracked and transferred one-to-one into the virtual world.

The third element is the driver’s movements within the car. Natural body movements during fast cornering or heavy braking – caused by G-forces – are recorded.

Seamless, latency-free integration of these three systems is essential for a high-resolution, realistic digital environment. All movements are transmitted with care to prevent motion sickness.
