In the ten-hour race at the Road Atlanta circuit, BMW M Team WRT fought for victory in the #24 BMW M Hybrid V8 right up until the final laps. Dries Vanthoor, Sheldon van der Linde and Robin Frijns had started from third on the grid and remained in the leading group for long stretches of the race. Even a spin by Frijns did not set the trio back. In the closing stages, van der Linde battled it out with Laurens Vanthoor in the Porsche for victory, but was unable to find a way past.
The #25 BMW M Hybrid V8, driven by Philipp Eng, Marco Wittmann and Kevin Magnussen, initially had a strong race but retired following an accident. Kevin Magnussen was uninjured.
Second place for the #24 car rounded off the IMSA debut season by BMW M Team WRT, in which the team secured one victory and a total of five podium finishes.
The fact that we’re almost disappointed with a second place at the end shows how strong we were with the BMW M Hybrid V8 towards the end of this season. And then the title win for Paul Miller Racing with the BMW M4 GT3 EVO – incredible! Congratulations and thanks to everyone involved.

There was even more cause for celebration at Paul Miller Racing: in the GTD PRO class, Connor De Phillippi, Neil Verhagen and Dan Harper finished third in the #1 BMW M4 GT3 EVO. The podium finish was enough for the two regular drivers, De Phillippi and Verhagen, to clinch the GTD PRO class title.
For Turner Motorsport, however, title hopes in the GTD class came to an early end: a technical fault with the #96 BMW M4 GT3 EVO dashed all hopes for Robby Foley, Patrick Gallagher and Francis Selldorff.

I’m almost speechless. We came here 47 points behind and knew we’d need a little miracle to win the title – and we did it.
