THE FIRST 2 SERIES BMW M GRAN COUPÉ.

With the launch of the BMW M235i xDrive Gran Coupé F44 in 2019, M GmbH introduced the four-door coupé – a concept which has thrived in higher vehicle classes – to the premium compact segment.

5 March 2026

The debut of the BMW M235i xDrive Gran Coupé marked the next chapter in a success story: following the luxury models BMW M6 Gran Coupé F06 and BMW M8 Gran Coupé F93, the BMW M235i xDrive Gran Coupé F44 was a vehicle that brought an extravagant alternative to classic sedans to the compact segment. The new four-door model not only brought about new standards in terms of individuality, design, emotional appeal, innovative controls and connectivity, but also set new benchmarks in terms of driving dynamics for the family-friendly compact sports car segment.

The BMW M235i xDrive Gran Coupé F44 visibly ties in with the elegant appearance of the BMW M higher class models. The distinctive feature of the Gran Coupé is its elongated, dynamic silhouette, which clearly reflects the design language of classic coupés and is recognisable in the four frameless side doors.

In addition, the sporty, low and broad-set stance is clearly evident when looking at the dynamic front end of the Gran Coupé. The slightly angled full-LED headlights with their distinctive BMW four-eyed face visually widen the vehicle, while the motorsport-inspired mesh kidney grille with a three-dimensional grid design further emphasises the dynamic design.

Viewed from the rear, a completely new lighting design also creates the visual impression of a wide sports car with a broad stance on the road. The slim LED rear lights in “L” shape elegantly wrap around the rear from the powerfully modelled wheel arch to the boot, extending in the form of a black, high-gloss band that continues to the centrally positioned BMW logo on the tailgate. The lights, connected in this way, make a horizontal statement and emphasise the width of the rear.

Colour accents in Cerium Grey, for example on the kidney grille, the rear-view mirror caps and the outer air intakes, as well as High-gloss Black components at the rear, clearly identify the Gran Coupé as an M Performance model.

The compact sports car rolled off the production line with polished 18-inch alloy wheels, with polished 19-inch alloy wheels also available on request.

SPORTY, SPACIOUS INTERIOR.

SPORTY, SPACIOUS INTERIOR.

The fusion of sedan and coupé that characterises the body design of the BMW M235i xDrive Gran Coupé F44 is also reflected in the interior. A sporty flair and a space that is family-friendly and fit-for-travel are combined with premium materials. Despite its elegant coupé shape, the M235i Gran Coupé offers more headroom and knee room for rear passengers than the two-door coupé, while the boot capacity of 430 litres exceeds that of the two-door model by 40 litres.

The Gran Coupé came off the assembly line with an M Sport steering wheel in the driver-oriented cockpit and sports seats upholstered in Trigon/Sensatec in Black or in a leather variant with M specific blue contrast stitching.

TRAVEL-FRIENDLY PERFORMER .

TRAVEL-FRIENDLY PERFORMER .

The newly developed 2.0-liter engine of the BMW M235i xDrive Gran Coupé F44 was the most powerful four-cylinder engine in the BMW Group at the time of its market launch. The engine delivers 225 kW (306 hp) between 5,000 and 6,250 rpm, which translates into an impressive output of just under 113 kW (153 hp) per litre. The power is transferred to the road with the help of innovative drive technologies. These include the standard xDrive all-wheel drive system, BMW Performance Control, the ARB traction control system, and the newly developed mechanical Torsen limited-slip differential, which is integrated into the standard 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission of the BMW M235i xDrive. This enables the Gran Coupé to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, or even 4.8 seconds with the M Performance package. The sporty four-door model reaches its limited top speed at 250 km/h.

In addition to the drive technologies that ensure optimum power transmission and traction, other M specific features such as the particularly sporty M Sport suspension, M Sport steering and M Sport brakes noticeably enhance the pleasure of dynamic driving.

Regardless of its performance potential, the M235i Gran Coupé can also be driven at low revs. The maximum torque of 450 Nm is available across a wide rev range between 1,750 and 4,500 rpm, allowing for comfortable travel or casual cruising on winding country roads, whatever you feel like doing.

FROM THE LUXURY CLASS INTO THE PREMIUM COMPACT SEGMENT.

With the BMW M235i xDrive Gran Coupé F44, M GmbH brought the equally successful and exclusive Gran Coupé concept to the compact segment. The model continued the success story of Gran Coupés in the BMW M product portfolio, which had begun with its luxury-class siblings. After five years on the market, the four-door compact sports car found a worthy successor in 2024 with the introduction of the BMW M235 xDrive Gran Coupé F74.
